About Us

East Herts District Scouts provides around 500 young people with the opportunities to develop skills for life – supported by around 200 valued volunteers including leaders, members of Trustee Boards and District Members as well as group occasional helpers.

The district was created in 1908 by Scouts from 1st Broxbourne, 1st Wormley and 1st Cheshunt.

Background & Aims

We have 10 Scout Groups in the district, as well as two active Explorer Units, a Scout Shop, an Active Support Unit and a band of Young Leaders who support leaders in the groups.

We run an awards programme for which nominations can be made throughout the year – with awards presented at our AGM (usually held in May).

The District is managed by a team of volunteers on the Trustee Board – all new volunteers are welcome to join the board or to volunteer with a local group.

Across all groups we need new adult volunteers – get in touch if you’d like to know more.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
