Date: 11th May 2024 Author: Ann Troll

Awards were presented at our AGM:

Game Cup for the Scout Section: Awarded for Perseverance. This award was first presented by Councillor G Game in 1977 and is now presented in his memory.

This year’s winner was nominated by Robert Greyson and the winner is Harry, a Scout with 1st Cheshunt – Robert said: “When Harry started at Scouts, we were made aware of a physical impairment which during heavy activity can become painful or uncomfortable. Throughout his time with us he has never once let this get in the way of any activity, which has included many camps and hikes , including hillwalking and expedition weekends. I’ve never once seen it affect his enjoyment or get him down. He has been an outstanding Scout on all of the activities he has been on. Well done on your perseverance Harry”.

The Beaver Trophy which is to be awarded to the Beaver Scout Section – an individual or Colony. The trophy was made and presented by David Cheek in 1992. This year’s winner was nominated by Debbie Fletcher and the winner is Mark Roydhouse, a Beaver leader from 2nd Cheshunt. Debbie said “Mark has enhanced the beaver team since joining us – he contributes to meetings – runs camps – makes craft items for the beavers to paint or use at camp – completes paperwork and often runs the evenings turning up each week eager to engage with the beavers. Being a scout himself and having 2 children who have been beavers he comes up with very helpful ideas”.

Lastly the Challenge Shield trophy. The Challenge Shield Trophy is presented to the Scout troop with the most number of points gained over the year taking part in scout section competitions.

The trophy was presented by Tom Webb from 10.05.06 awarded to the troop gaining the most points at District events throughout the year.  Previously for the highest team in Green Beret which had been first presented on 23.05.91

The competitions held in the last year include: Fishing Competition, Silver Buckle and Cooking Competition.

For the 1st time since 2006 we actually have joint winners – 1st Cheshunt Scout Group and 1st Turnford Scout Group

Awards were presented by Mike Shurety, Hertfordshire Scouts County Chairman.
