East Herts District AGM – 2024

Date: 11th May 2024 Author: Ann Troll

On 9th May 2024 we had the AGM for our district – covering 2023 – this followed the new guidance from The Scout Association for appointing Trustees following ‘transformation’.

Thanks to all who attended, to those standing as trustees, to those who stood down at the AGM and to the Active Support Unit for their assistance with refreshments. Congratulations to those who won awards, including Gill Pearce who has achieved the Bar to the Award for Merit. The AGM was attended by Mike Shurety, Hertfordshire Scouts County Chairman.

The annual report is here – thanks to those who contributed.

You can see who won the awards this year here.

After the AGM, Mike Shurety emailed Andy and said the following: “May I, through you, pass on my thanks to the trustees, Scouters and Scouts of East Herts District for the walm welcome I received when I attended your AGM last night. It was good to be a part of your proceedings and to learn about the various activities that the District has put on for your young people during the last year. It was very reassuring that, despite the challenges you face, you are putting on a varied and entertaining programme of events. As always, the benefit of attending AGMs is to network with the enthusiastic members of your adult helpers.

I am sorry that you are having difficulties in attracting a Chair and other senior leaders to support and guide the District at the current time. Hopefully this situation will be resolved in the near future.”

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
